Who will the Montreal Canadiens pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft?
Aylee Ahmadzadeh | May 31, 2024

The big question every Habs has now is who will the Montreal Canadiens select at the draft this year with the 5th overall pick? And while I unfortunately do not have the answer, I can showcase some players who could possibly join the organization next year.
POLL AT END :)
1.) Ivan Demidov

Ivan Demidov who is the main pick for most Montreal Canadiens fans, has been ranked from 2nd-5th overall in general Prospect Rankings. He had 23 Goals 60 Points in 30GP in MHL Russia during the 2023-24 season which is utterly remarkable. Ivan Demidov, a Russian ice hockey winger, currently plays for SKA-1946 in the Russian Junior Hockey League. He's seen as a promising talent eyed by SKA Saint Petersburg of the Kontinental Hockey League and is highly regarded as a top prospect for the upcoming 2024 NHL Entry Draft - it may be unlikely that he is available at 5th pick.
2.) Cayden Lindstrom

Cayden Lindstrom is a Centre from Chetwynd, BC. He is currently playing for the Medicine Hat Tigers of the WHL. This season so far he has put up 27 goals and 46 Points in 32 Games Played. Through 18 prospect rankings, Lindstroms average has been calculated as 6.16th overall. In ESPN's 2024 Mock Draft Lindstrom is heavily compared to Fantilli "He and Fantilli play a similar game, bring size and have the makings of a matchup nightmare for years to come. Lindstrom protects pucks, wins battles and drives the middle of ice to the dirty areas to create scoring chances for himself and his teammates. The Blue Jackets have been starved for high-end talent at the center position for years, something they can fix in the span of two drafts with Fantilli and Lindstrom. No need to overthink drafting a central, long-term pillar of the organization." (ESPN.Com) He would be a great addition to the organization.
3.) Tij Iginla

If this name rings a bell, you're not crazy Iginla is a Canadian-American junior ice hockey forward for the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League and the son of Hockey Hall of Fame inductee Jarome Iginla. Tij Iginla's 2023-24 season was impressive, scoring 47 goals and 84 points in 64 games, which led to his recognition as a top prospect for the upcoming NHL draft. His performance in the WHL playoffs further showcased his abilities, where he scored eight goals in the first round, tying a franchise record. Scouts have praised Iginla for his quick release, puck handling skills, and hockey intelligence. Despite comparisons to his father, Tij is noted for his own unique style of play, characterized by agility and strong puck control (The Hockey Writers) (NHL.com). He is projected to be selected in the top half of the 2024 NHL Draft, with some experts suggesting he could go as high as the top ten (ranked 12th overall average).
4.) Berkley Catton

Berkly Catton is currently playing as a center for the Spokane Chiefs in the Western Hockey League (WHL). Born on January 14, 2006, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Catton has emerged as a top prospect for the 2024 NHL Entry Draft.
Catton's hockey career has been notable for his scoring ability and leadership qualities. He was selected first overall in the 2021 WHL Bantam Draft by the Spokane Chiefs. In the 2023-24 season, he recorded 54 goals and 116 points in 68 games, showcasing his offensive skills and playmaking ability. His performance included a five-point game and gathering over 100 points throughout a single season. "Catton is a well-rounded offensive player who possesses a slippery skating style, high-end release and an ability to use space to make quality plays to his teammates. He understands how to draw defenders toward him and zip the puck to a teammate or on net for a scoring chance." He has been ranked 11th overall at (ESPN.Com)

He currently plays for the Oshawa Generals in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), where he has shown significant improvement and consistency, particularly in the latter part of the season. Standing at 6'3", Sennecke initially stood out as a tenacious puck hound but has since developed into a more well-rounded player. His playmaking ability, skating, and skillful hands make him a dual threat, capable of both setting up and finishing plays. Despite this, he is still growing into his game his game, particularly in terms of defensive consistency and solidifying his physicality effectively .Sennecke's playmaking, intelligence, and ability to use his size effectively in puck battles and forechecking are his key strengths.
